Secure 5 Email Migration Information
August 3, 2010 by tracy · Comments Off
Due to time-sensitive nature of this migration, we have not been able to notify all clients ahead of time of the new server settings. While website data is backed up, email is not, and we wanted to make sure your email was transferred before the possibility of the server going down permanently.
For those of you having problems accessing your email today, you can try the following servers settings:
– Make sure to update your username to include the complete email address
– If the server your use is mail.yourdomainname.com or secure5.liveoakhosting.com WITHOUT SSL, use the following servers:
POP3 pop.yourdomainname.com port 110 or
IMAP imap.yourdomainname.com port 143
SMTP smtp.yourdomainname.com port 25
– If you use secure5.liveoakhosting.com WITH SSL, you will want to use the following servers:
POP3 with SSL secure.emailsrvr.com port 995 or
IMAP with SSL secure.emailsrvr.com port 993
SMTP with SSL secure.emailsrvr.com port 465
You can always go to https://webmail.liveoakmail.com and log in using your full email address and email password. Please bear in mind, some passwords had to be changed if they did not meet minimum security standards and we may need to forward those to your IT contact.
We apologize for the inconvenience and if you have any questions, please feel free to contact us by emailing support@liveoakhosting.com or calling our toll-free number at 877.272.5743. Thank you for your patience!

Live Oak Survey Winners
February 16, 2009 by tracy · Comments Off
Below are the winning comments from this year’s annual survey. There were so many that we found it impossible to select just one — our solution was to choose our two favorite. We’ll be sending out their iPod Shuffles this week. Congratulations to Patti Scribner and Sandra Kearney on their winning entries!

“In setting up a new business — unfamiliar with much of the computer technology — it is a boon to have a human being answer (Aaron or Tracy) both of whom are knowledgable, gracious and so very helpful. When last I had a problem with an installation, Tracy was able to get into my computer and fix it. All the while, explaining what she was doing while I got to sit, watch and learn. I’m surprised she couldn’t hear my sigh of relief 5 states away. The call from the owner, Andy Meadow the day after I signed up with Live Oak was so welcoming and, I must say, left a terrific impression. It certainly put a stamp on the integrity and attitude of the business. The team is there to do a great job — and they do. I love the “one stop shopping” aspect: web, logo, e-mail… You rock! Would have responded if there were no iPod involved - glad to let you know how I feel.”

“As a procrastinating free-lance writer, I often check email as an excuse to avoid doing whatever task I should be doing. Since switching to Live Oak, I truly miss the creative erectile dysfunction medication solicitations I once received in batches on a daily basis. Who are these people with the Jabberwocky names who send messages in a quasi Russian patois? Well, since the new spam filter, I guess I’ll never know….”

Kick the Tires on Live Oak Mail
February 10, 2009 by tracy · Comments Off
If you are curious about our Live Oak Mail, we have a no-obligation way of taking it for a drive. Live Oak Mail has two premium email services options for your organization:
SkyBox. The webmail interface offers shared calendars, contacts, and tasks. And you can still check your email using your favorite email software. You can also use WinMobile and BlackBerry syncing to keep up with your mail.
Test it out by logging in at http://budurl.com/skybx using the email address demo@liveoakmail.com and a password of try1t0ut.
Hosted Exchange. This option allows you the same functions as the SkyBox webmail, with the additional benefit that it completely integrates with your Microsoft Outlook or Entourage. Don’t have Outlook or Entourage? Don’t worry — your Hosted Exchange comes with a free copy that you can download and install for your personal use. You can even use ActiveSync, BlackBerry, Good Network to sync with your mobile device.
Test it out by logging in http://budurl.com/exchg using the email address loh.demo@liveoakmail.com and password of try1t0ut.
You can poke around in either of these as long as you want. If you have any questions or would like to move to the Live Oak Mail solution, email us. We would love to hear what you have to say about it!
The 2009 Live Oak Customer Survey
January 22, 2009 by tracy · Comments Off
Rather than send our January survey out in July (as we did last year), we’ve decided that we actually want to do it on time this year.
Starting Monday, January 26th, you’ll get one of 3 invitations to share your opinions, feedback, and ideas with us. As soon as you respond to the survey, you’ll stop getting reminders. We send out 3 reminders because we know everyone is busy, on vacation, or just plain forgets. The survey takes just a few minutes but is incredibly helpful as we make changes to our plans, identify and invest in new services, and most importantly, find out how we can help your organization grow and flourish.
So, please be on the lookout for the survey invitation coming on Monday, January 26th and take a few minutes to help us continue to be your hosting partner for life!
Can a Blog Help Your Business?
December 8, 2008 by tracy · Comments Off
Have you considered adding a blog to your current site but aren’t sure what it’s all about or what it can do for your site?
Blogging can be a wonderful way of driving traffic to your website on a regular basis and can help contribute to your overall marketing strategy in the long run. Blogging should not, in and of itself, be considered your sole form of marketing. But, when used in conjunction with your overall marketing plan, it can help draw more customers and keep the customers you have.
Blogging software has become so easy to use, that hiring a web developer to make quick content additions to them is not necessary. They offer a way to conveniently add timely and relevant content to your site, keeping it up-to-date. Blogs can also be used to easily distribute information to your employees.
Still not sure? A quick search of the internet on “blogging strategy” will return no end of information. Here are some links to sites that might help you decide if a blog is right for you:
- Blogging Strategy 101 (my favorite for beginners)
- Blog Strategy - Needed For Maximum Blog Success
Have you already decided you want a blog on your site? There are many different blogging packages you can use — some with quick installation. We recommend WordPress because it’s free and installation is fairly easy.
There are also free blogging sites that you can use as well, such as blogger.com, wordpress.com, and typepad.com.
Need more information on setting up a blog? Call us! we’d love you hear from you.

After months of slaving over a hot computer, we finally came up with our new site. It may continue to change over the coming days or weeks in an effort to provide as much information and as many resources our customers have requested (or already use).
If there is something that is missing or you would like to see available on the site, drop us a line at support@liveoakhosting.com. We’d love you hear from you!
